What are your guidelines for protecting children from COVID-19?
• All Gentle Shepherd staff must wear face masks inside the center unless doing so would present serious risks to their health or safety. A staff member may also forego a mask if they are more than six feet from another person.
• Parents/guardians MUST wear masks and social distance as much as possible during drop off and pick up times. Parents/guardians who refuse will not be allowed to enter the center.
• We recommend that children over five years of age wear masks.
• No toys or unnecessary items from home, including diaper bags and car seats, will be brought into the daycare.
• Bottles for infants must be prepared at home and brought to the center daily. We don’t provide formula. Used bottles will be rinsed and placed back in their bags. Please label both bottles and lids with your child’s name.
• We have removed learning materials that can’t be cleaned and sanitized from the classrooms. Remaining toys will be placed in a “dirty toys” bucket throughout the day and cleaned.
• If your child uses a large blanket at nap time, you will need to replace it with a smaller one that can be folded and placed in his or her cubby. We are keeping the personal belongings of each child separated.
• Classes are limited to 10 children and don’t combine at any point during the day, including playground time.
What is your sick policy?
When a child shows a fever or other contagious symptom, he or she will be removed from their classroom immediately and placed in a safe, secluded area. A parent or guardian must pick the child up within one hour.
Gentle Shepherd will not resume child care for those sent home with fevers and/or respiratory symptoms until they have been symptom-free for 72 hours. Or, parents may obtain doctor’s notes clearing their children from COVID-19 diagnosis.
Do you accommodate cloth diapers?
Do you provide food for children during the day?
Your little one will eat nutritious meals each day, as well. The daycare participates in a U.S. Department of Agriculture federal food program, which means children get healthy, well-balanced breakfasts, lunches, and snacks to fuel their learning.
Can my child bring outside food into the classroom? What if they have food allergies?
Children can’t bring outside food into the classroom. The center will provide them with breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack every day. If your child has food allergies, you will need to submit a signed doctor’s statement and fill out a form from the USDA federal food program. The forms are available in our office.
What will my child learn each day?
You will find a description of each class here.
Do you have technology that will keep me up-to-date on child care?
Gentle Shepherd uses LifeCubby™ to facilitate parent/teacher communication. Through this software, you can get daily information on meals, naps, lesson plans, and more. You can even view photos of your child. Learn more at www.lifecubby.com.
